Rangpur Riders defeated Chattogram Challengers by a big margin of 55 runs in the 21st match of the 9th season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Monday (January 23) in Mirpur. This is Rangpur's third win in 6 matches. On the other hand, Chattogram lost for the fifth time in the 7th match.
Rangpur lost the toss and batted. They collected 179 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Shoaib Malik was the best batter for Rangpur. He remained unbeaten on 75 runs from just 45 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Apart from this, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 42 off 24 balls and Naim Sheikh scored 34 off 29 balls.
For Chattogram, Mehedi Hasan Rana took three wickets and skipper Shuvagata Hom got two wickets. Regular captain Nurul Hasan Sohan did not bat despite returning to the XI after recovering from injury. 
In reply, Chattogram lost 3 wickets for just 11 runs. Then Darwish Rasooli and captain Shuvagata tackled the initial blow and made a 66-run partnership. After Rasooli's departure, Ziaur Rahman kept the runs rolling with a 24-run cameo from 12 balls. Rasooli scored 21 runs from 17 balls.
On the other hand, Shuvagata got his first fifty in BPL. However, Chattogram lost their way after the captain was dismissed scoring 52 runs off 31 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Afif Hossain did not bat as he went back to the hotel due to fever. Therefore, Chattogram's defeat was confirmed after losing the 9th wicket for 124 runs in 16.3 overs. For Rangpur, Haris Rauf took three wickets and Rakibul Hasan got two wickets.
