In the third match of the three-match ODI series, Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by a huge margin of 184 runs. Batting first, Sri Lanka collected 254 runs for 9 wickets. Zimbabwe were all out for 70 runs.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Pathum Nissanka and Kushal Mendis scored 80 runs in the opening partnership. The pair was broken through Wellington Masakadza. Kushal returned with 36 runs off 51 balls. After breaking this pair, the Lankans started losing wickets at regular intervals. However, their run flow was still steady.
The other opener Nissanka scored 55 of 66 deliveries. Charith Asalanka scored 52 off 56 balls. Chamika Karunaratne scored a quickfire 30 of 32 to take Sri Lanka to a competitive total of 254.
Chasing a medium target, Zimbabwe lost a pair of wickets for 3 runs. The visitors could not handle the bowling of Sri Lanka at all. Jeffrey Vandersay took 4 wickets and Ramesh Mendis and Dushmantha Chameera took 2 wickets each. Zimbabwe were all out for a mere 70, as the Lankans bowlers ran riot all over them.
