SLC denies CPL NOC to Dickwella, Pererra for refusing Pakistan tour
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has denied NOC to Niroshan Dickwella for playing Caribbean Premier League after he refused to tour to Pakistan.
On the other end of the scenario, and Thisara Perera has been asked to return to the country by September 15 after he nodded negatively to visit Pakistan with the national team.
SLC CEO Ashley de Silva stated that the policy of the board does not allow to issue NOC to players while the team is playing international cricket.
“It’s our policy not to give NOCs when there is a national tour, and the players would have known that. So Dickwella has not been granted an NOC and will be expected to train with the national team in the next few weeks. We have also asked Thisara to return to the country on September 15, so he can also join the team in training,” he said.
Thisara was earlier been granted NOC and has already played two matches in the ongoing CPL. He will, now have to return to Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile Dickwella has not been granted the permission as he was with Sri Lanka’s T20 team for the series against New Zealand.
Isuru Udana, had also been picked up by a team in CPL but he made himself unavailable due to international schedules with Sri Lanka. Udana is now preparing to tour Pakistan.
“We have done a very meticulous security assessment, and the Pakistan board has gone out of their way,”
one board official said.
“Other international players have also toured there with the World XI and so on. And Pakistan is also willing to provide the same security they give to heads of state for the players. What more could they want?” he added.
