Smith flies back to Australia with elbow injury

Former Australia captain Steven Smith had been enrolled by Comilla Victorians, his first major appearance in the playing field after being banned for ball-tampering.

According to reports revealed, Smith arrived in Bangladesh with elbow stress and it has been aggravated. On Thursday, the Victorians have suffered a major blow when the Aussie star has left for Australia for further diagnosis of his elbow injury.

Coach Mohammad Salahuddin as quoted by Cricbuzz, hoped for the best and said, “We are hoping that he will join us if nothing serious is found in the MRI.”

In Australia Smith will go through an MRI and would likely to join with his BPL team if nothing goes wrong about the wounded elbow.

It is also known that Smith has been refrained from throwing balls in the next session since his arrival here which has later restricted his participation as well.

Smith so far played two matches for the Victorians and scored 16 and 0 respectively. Winning one game between two played, Comilla Victorians are in the fifth position in the point table.

Victorians next encounter is with Rajshahi Kings on January 11.
