Sohan key to success against Mohammedan, says Shuvagata
After a gap of four days, the 8th round of the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) will roll onto the ground on Tuesday (May 24). In a crunch match, defending champions Prime Bank Cricket Club will battle against the traditional heavyweights Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The match will begin at 9.00am BdST.
Ahead of the all-important encounter, Prime Bank skipper Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury was confident about his team’s success up against Mushfiqur Rahim’s men. After his side’s practice session at Mirpur Academy Ground on Monday, Shuvagata said they are looking to seal a win over Mohammedan to get one step closer to the Super League berth.
“From now on every single encounter of the Premier League is important for us. This coming fixture is also very crucial for us on our way to securing the Super League spot. We are now approaching step by step. We will try and be at our best to bring out a positive result in our favour,” said the national all-rounder.
Instead of doing well only in batting or bowling, they will have to deliver their best in all three departments to win the game, opined Shuvagata. “We will definitely make the best of our strengths in the next matches. As the opposition side is Mohammedan, not only in batting or bowling but we have to try and play our best cricket in all three departments.”
Shuvagata also believes Nurul Hasan Sohan, who has done well so far in the competition, will once again prove to be a valuable asset with the bat against Mohammedan, “We want to give Sohan more opportunities. He is an important player for us, and also in good form. Hopefully we will do well against Mohammedan on the back of Sohan’s good form.”
