Soumya excluded from central contract by BCB’s mistake
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released the list of central contracted players on Sunday (March 8), placing 16 players in the agreement. The negotiated news of this agreement was the exclusion of all-rounder Soumya Sarkar from the list.
The cricketer has been playing for a national team in three formatsfor the long time. Yet the left-handed batsman was not named in the central contract. However, BCB had said that the name of Soumya Sarkar had been omitted by mistake!
BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu on Monday (March 9th) said,
“His name has been dropped while shortening the list. He is in agreement with the white ball. We cut out of 24 people. Something went wrong at that time.”
This time, the new category ‘D’ had been added with ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ category to the central agreement. In the first three categories, there will be 14 cricketers in total, and in the ‘D’ category, two more players will be added to the central contract.
However, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan and Imrul Kayes have been dropped from the central deal with the BCB. Among them, Shakib has been omitted because of his ban. Abu Hider Rony, Khaled Ahmed, Rubel Hossain and Test specialis batsman Shadman Islam also have to face same consequences as Mashrafe and Imrul- they have been also dropped from the contract.
And 5 new players have been added in BCB’s central contract. They are- Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mohammad Mithun, Ebadot Hossain, Afif Hossain and Naim Sheikh.
