Soumya hopeful to perform well in T20Is

After getting dropped from the tri-nation series and the Test series, left hand opener Soumya Sarkar has been called up again for the T20I series. According to the batting approach of Soumya, this is the format where he fits in perfectly.

To make best use of the opportunity, Soumya has to be at his best in order to get into the squad for the next series and also for the team as I Bangladesh is still finding hard to get a consistent batsman who can open with senior opener Tamim Iqbal.

Soumya said in an interview on Monday: “As long as I stay, I try to bat with confidence. Except T20, I didn’t get much success, that’s why it looked like I am in the back foot. If I can keep playing like my last knocks in this format, then I can bat with confidence.”

He added: “I will try to do well in both of the matches. I will try to perform well and get set in this format.”

Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first T20I on 15th February. In the absence of injured Shakib Al Hasan, senior cricketer Tamim Iqbal will lead the side. Soumya is likely to open with Tamim in the first T20I.
