Soumya scores quick fifty in Khulna’s easy win
Soumya Sarkar somehow found himself back in touch as he scored a quickfire fifty to seal Khulna Divison’s comfortable victory over Rajshahi Division.
Soumya Sarkar is passing a hard-time with the bat and he turned into worse when he departed for a duck. However, he has been named in the T20I squad for India tour and it was a much needed fifty to regain the lost confidence.
Chasing the target of 123, Khula won it comfortably in the end by 7 wickets with Soumya remaining unbeaten for 50* and Mohammad Mithun scoring 27.
They started the day requiring 108 runs to win on the final day following an interesting third day which saw a total of 15 wickets fall at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium yesterday.
Rajshahi were in all sorts of trouble, but Nurul Hasan fought a lone battle and was unbeaten three runs shy of a hundred as the hosts were bowled out for 309 runs, taking a 48-run lead.
Nurul hit ten fours and four sixes during his 127-ball 97. But he missed his well-deserved hundred after tail-ender Al-Amin Hossain lost his wicket.
Najmul Hossain top-scored for Rajshahi with a 50 while Mushfiqur Rahim added 44. Khulna lost the wicket of Anamul Haque (4) and ended the day on 15 for one. Soumya then took it over and won it for Khulna quite comfortably in the end.
