Soumya to lead BCB XI against Zimbabwe

Apart from Soumya, the 30-year-old Fazle Rabbi Mahmud, who has earned a national call-up for the first time ever in his cricket career to play the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, will also feature in the practice match. The other notable figure to partake in the match is Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.

The match will be held in BKSP, Savar on October 19.

Though Soumya has not been included in the 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe ODIs, he has been in a good vein of form in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL). After scoring 76 off 141 deliveries for Khulna against Rangpur, he has now picked up a five-wicket haul with the ball in hand as well. In the second round of matches he also struck a ton against Rajshashi.

Following the only practice match on October 19, the main series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will roll onto the ground from October 21, with the first one-dayer scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The next two matches of the series will be hosted by the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on October 24 and 26 respectively.
