After hitting fifties (76 and 71) in both the innings for Khulna Division in the recently concluded third round of the National Cricket League (NCL) against Rangpur Division and also picking up a five-for with the ball, Soumya played a match winning, unbeaten 102-run knock as the captain of BCB XI against Zimbabwe in BKSP, Savar on Friday. “Soumya is not out of our sight yet. He is in the 30-man pool. We are actually going through a process. We want to examine some of the players in the Zimbabwe series. If we need Soumya or anyone, as we always say, we will definitely call him into the side,” said Nannu on Friday.

The chief sdelector also seemed to be quite happy about Soumya’s recent form. “Soumya is batting brilliantly. I think he has been able to shrugg off the bad patch he once has been in. He did quite well in the NCL as well. I think if he can maintain this form, he will return to the national team soon.”
