Soumya,Naim star as Bangladesh start Emerging Asia Cup with a solid win
Bangladesh have made a bright start in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Teams Asia Cup as they beat Hong Kong by a huge margin of 9 wickets on Thursday, November 14 at BKSP’s No. 4 field.
Batting first, Hong Kong managed to score just 164 runs losing 9 wickets in the destined 50 overs, Arshad Mohammad top-scoring with 35 off 33 balls, featuring three fours and one six. Except this, Aizaz Khan (25), Kinchit Shah (24) and Wajid Shah (17) contributed to post the total above 150 plus.
Sumon Khan was the best bowler for Bangladesh with 4 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. Mehedi Hasan took two wickets while Afif Hossain and Hasan Mahmud took one wicket each.
Chasing the small target of 165 runs, Bangladesh got off to a solid start as both the openers- Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Naim Sheikh looked in destructive touch. They added 94 runs in the opening wicket before Naim Sheikh got out scoring 52 runs off 52 balls with 8 fours.
After that, Soumya Sarkar along with captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto put the finishing touch to the innings and grabbed an easy win for Bangladesh. Soumya was unbeaten at 84 runs off just 74 balls, his innings included 9 fours and 3 sixes. Nazmul Hossain also played an unbeaten innings of 22 runs off 22 balls.
