Hashim Amla and du Plessis made the Bangladesh bowlers toil again. Amla reached his 36th Test fifty in 61 balls while the Proteas skipper’s half-century came in 68 deliveries. South Africa crossed 400 in 83.1 overs.
Bangladesh bowlers gave 172 runs in 34 overs in the final session. The hosts finished day one with 428 runs for three wickets at 4.76 runs per over.
The Amla-du Plessis fourth-wicket partnership is on 140 runs. Amla is just 11 runs away from his 28th Test ton as he remained unbeaten on 99-ball 89 runs hitting 12 boundaries. du Plessis is on 62* off 92 with six fours.
