South Africa announce squad for first two ODIs

Cricket South Africa have announced 14-man squad for the first two ODI against Pakistan. Dale Steyn and Quinton de Kock have been rested.

After a hectic three-match Test series, South Africa have decided to rest Steyn and de Kock for the first two matches while Aiden Markram and Duanne Olivier have been called up as their replacements.

Steyn, who recently recovered from a long-term injury featured in all three Tests. However, he walked off the field clutching his shoulder during the third Test against Pakistan. And the selectors have decided to give him rest so that he can regain his fitness back.

Olivier’s outstanding performance in the Test series has earned him a place in the limited overs squad. Markram also gets an opportunity to become a regular member of the ODI team once again.

The ODIs start on Saturday in Port Elizabeth, before moving to Durban. The hosts are expetced to name a new squad for the final three ODIs of the series.

Squad: Faf du Plessis(c), Hashim Amla, Aiden Markram, Reeza Hendricks, Imran Tahir, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Dane Paterson, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Duanne Olivier, Rassie van der Dussen.
