After winning the toss, South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis opted to bowl first. Pakistan lost Imam-ul Haq early for 5 while Fakhar Zaman departed for 26 after looking well-set.

The visitors kept losing wickets and they found themselves in all sorts of trouble with 8 wickets down for only 112 runs. In reply, what looked like an easy chase turned into a tricky one for the hosts. Pakistan seamers were on fire particularly Shaheen Afridi, who removed both the openers. He also picked up the wicket of South African and skipper and with Shadab Khan’s two wickets, South Africa found themselves in risk of breaking out with 80-5.

The contender for the man of the match award was loud and clear after a brilliant all-rounder display from Phehlukwayo, who picked up 4 wickets for only 22 runs and scored an unbeaten match-winning knock of 69.
