South Africa seal dramatic win, level series


South Africa lost the first T20I with a shame. In the second match, South Africa were in position of another defeat. Australia was on the verge of an easy win at Port Elizabeth. But the bowlers dramatically won the match for South Africa by 12 runs. With the win, the hosts leveled the series 1-1 in a three-match series.

Quinton de Kock scored 70 runs off 47 balls and with that South Africa scored 158 runs for 4 wickets in destined 20 overs. Chasing the target, Australia were in a very good position. They were 124/2 at one stage.

In the last three overs, they needed 25 runs. Still 7 wickets in hand. More than that, David Warner was in the crease. But the Proteas bowlers bowled with great line and length to restrict Australia in 146 runs.

Lungi Ngidi was able to give away just 5 runs for 1 wicket in the 18th over. Kagiso Rabada took another wicket in the first ball of the 19th over. Only 3 runs came in that over.

Australia needed 17 runs in the last over. Half Centurion David Warner was still in the crease. But Warner could only take a single off the first ball of the over by Anrich Nortje, in the next ball, new batsman Ashton Agar was bowled by him.

In the third ball, Mitchell Starc gave Warner the strike with one run. 15 runs were needed from 3 balls. But Warner, who was at 67 runs from 53 balls, could not get any run from the fourth ball and the defeat was confirmed for Australia.

The next ball also seemed to be on Warner’s leg, a run from leg bye. South Africa’s camp fell in ecstasy as Starc took a run off the last ball.

South Africa captain Quinton de Kock was adjusted man of the match for his outstanding 70-run innings.
