Spin is on the cards to deal with the Proteas

Bangladesh’s spin bowling coach Ruwan Kalpage on Sunday hinted that despite using four specialist seamers against India in the recently concluded ODI series, they would devise a completely different game plan for South Africa in order to keep up their amazing success at the home soil.
According to the Sri Lankan, spin is on the cards to deal with the South African batsmen. Given their vulnerability against the slow bowlers in the sub-continent pitch albeit Kalpage seemed reluctant to consider it as a major weapon to get hold of the South African batting line-up, which is considered as one of the best in the world.
“You can’t take any team granted in the world. Because if you practically think, you will see a lot of players from South Africa are playing IPL these days. Sub-continent condition is similar that is flat and spin-friendly so far and they have got used to that,” said Kalpage.
“They have some aggressive players in the squad. So, we have had some good plan for them. We have not only spinners with us but also we have had backup plan.
“We can’t underestimate them because they are No.1 team in Test and a strong side in ODI cricket. But we will give our best. For them, we have a plan so far. We will be successful against South Africa also,” Kalpage revealed however didn’t elaborate the plan.
Kalpage also informed that the visitors might have had some aggressive players but the Tigers are hopeful about getting good result from the series against them.
“We can’t forget that they are top-ranked team in Test and ODI. They are very good team in Twenty20 also. But we are happy with the progress of our team. The confidence level of the team is very high. So, we can expect some good result,” he said.
The spin-coach, who is also Tigers’ assistant coach said that they have already started their training with their resources what they have in their arsenal.
“We have started training with Taijul and Likhon. We have got Sunny and Nasir along with them. We have just started some training with them just on the basis on how we can improve some of the areas. We talked about the basics with Taijul, Hom, Likhon,” the coach said.
