Sreesanth’s message to Preity Zinta goes viral on social media

Kerala fast bowler Sreesanth recently made a grand comeback to competitive cricket in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament. The 37-year-old pacer proved that age is just a number as he made a good impression with the ball. He played 5 matches for Kerala where he went on to take 4 wickets to his name.

After a satisfying comeback to competitive cricket, he registered his name for the mini-IPL auction at a base price of INR 75 lakh. However, his hopes of making a comeback to the cash-rich IPL didn’t really work out. The fast bowler couldn’t make it to the final list of players who went under the hammer in Chennai.

In fact, this was the very tourney that hampered his career in 2013 in the wake of the spot-fixing scandal. After that, he received a life ban sentence from the richest cricket body. However, as time progressed, his ban was reduced to 7 years in 2019 where he finally returned to the game.

The right-arm fast pacer kick-started his IPL journey with Punjab Kings in the year 2008 and was with the club till 2010. He showcased his mettle with the ball by bagging 18 wickets and was the second leading wicket-taker in the tournament after Sohail Tanveer. In the 2011 season, he played for now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala before plying his trade for Rajasthan Royals in the following season.

Sreesanth might have been unsold in the IPL 2021 auction but still, there is a chance for him to make a comeback. In the past, IPL teams had to pick players in the middle of the tournament owing to injuries or other reasons and Sreesanth is hoping for the same. The pacer also expressed his interest and aim by telling Preity Zinta to purchase him.

The drama started when Punjab Kings co-owner took to Instagram to ask her fans and followers about the players they would like to see represent Punjab this year. Her post came just a few hours ahead of the start of the auction in Chennai.

She posted a pic on social media after reaching Chennai and wrote: “Landed in Chennai for the IPL auction. Super curious to know, which players would you like to see in the #PunjabKings jersey this year ???? Let me know folks – I’m all ears ???????????? #PBKS #SaddaPunjab #iplauction #iplauction2021 #Ting”.
