Sri Lanka announce 15-man squad for New Zealand Test series

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) selectors have curtailed the preliminary squad of 22 members to make it to 15 for the two match Test series against New Zealand.

From the previous list, Danushka Gunathilaka, Shehan Jayasuriya, Chamika Karunaratne, Dilruwan Perera, Angelo Perera, Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando have been omitted.

Dinesh Chandimal has retained his place to the 15-man squad after being out of action since last February. He has played 53 Tests where he scored 3768 runs in an average of 41.86 with 11 centuries.

Sri Lanka selected six bowlers in the squad. Spin bowling options are Akila Dananjaya, Lakshan Sandakan and Lasith Embuldeniya while Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara and Vishwa Fernando comprise the pace department.

The first Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is scheduled to start from August 14 at the Galle International Stadium while the second Test will begin on August 22 at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.

Dimuth Karunaratne (capt), Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Janith Perera, Niroshan Dickwella, Dhananjaya de Silva, Oshada Fernando, Akila Dananjaya, Lasith Embuldeniya, Lakshan Sandakan, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando.
