Sri Lanka appoint Jerome Jayaratne as interim coach removing Hathurusingha

Sri Lanka’s former cricketer Jerome Jayaratne is set to be the new coach for the series against New Zealand. The 53-year-old Jerome Jayaratne’s appointment is made on interim basis. 

He will take over the charge from Chandika Hathurusingha, who has been given an opportunity to renegotiate his contract with the SLC.

In fact, Jayaratne the full-time employee has in the past, officiated as a coach and manager.

New selector

The sports minister Harin Fernando has also made changes in the selection committee and included Vinothen John in the committee.

He will be joining in the new committee comprising of Ashantha De Mel and Chaminda Mendis.

The two selectors-Brendon Kuruppu and Hemantha Wickramaratne- has been removed.
