Sri Lanka bring back Perera in West Indies T20Is

Thisara Perera, after missing the series in India, has been recalled to by Sri Lanka to the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 series against the visiting West Indies.

Perera was dropped for the New Zealand T20Is and the T20I rubber versus India.

Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep and spin-bowling allrounder Shehan Jayasuriya have also earned recalls, while Kasun Rajitha, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Oshada Fernando have been left out of the 15-member squad.

Perera’s inclusion comes as no surprise, as he ccumulated 193 runs and taken 11 wickets this season in tournaments across the cricketing landscape. He also performed creditably in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies with useful contributions down the order.

Fast bowler Pradeep last played a T20I against Australia in November 2019. All-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya too hasn’t represented Sri Lanka in T20Is since the tour of Australia.

Both the T20Is will be played in Pallekele, on March 4 and 6 respectively, after the conclusion of the ODI series. The hosts have already sealed their name on the 50-over series, taking an unassailable lead of 2-0.
