Stand out Mushfiqur spots second highest in Bangladesh ODI scores
Bangladesh started their Asia Cup campaign with a whopping 137 run win over Sri Lanka in Dubai.
A hot and humid morning did not show the day for Bangladesh; putting a horrific batting display at the dawn of their innings against Sri Lanka, majestically came back riding in the bat of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun.
At the Dubai International Stadium, on Saturday, Mushfiqur and Mithun delivered a stand out 131 run partnership in the third wicket after Bangladesh lost two wickets in one run in front of a good, old Lasith Malinga slinging and opener Tamim Iqbal retiring from the field with a broken wrist.
Lasith Malinga, who returned in ODI cricket after a long break, was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, finishing with the figure for 4 for 23.
Tamim Iqbal’s 154 against Zimbabwe in 2009 is the highest ODI score for the country till to date followed by Shakib Al Hasan’s 134 against Canada in 2007 ICC World Cup.
