Starc knocks down South Africa before stumps

Before the start of Day 2, both the teams were in even position. South Africa picked up some early wickets in the morning session to put themselves on top, but later Mitchell Marsh didn’t let that happen with a brilliant knock to put Australia in a comfortable position.

Marsh, who had an amazing Ashes series started where he left off. But when he was just one boundary away from scoring yet another hundred, he was dismissed by Vernon Philander. After his dismissal, a tail-ender cameo by Mitchell Starc helped Australia to finish quite a decent score of 351 runs.

In reply to Australia’s first innings total, South Africa lost Dean Elgar early and when Aiden Markram was looking set, he departed for 32. After that, none of the batsman except AB de Villiers couldn’t stand against the firing Aussie pacers and in the end wickets kept tumbling and Ab de Villiers ran out of partners.
