Stats: Soumya-Imrul’s record partnership, Tigers whitewash


Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes’ twin tons have helped Bangladesh chase 287 against Zimbabwe in the third ODI to earn a 3-0 clean sweep at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

11- This is the eleventh time Bangladesh have whitewashed a team in an ODI series of three or more matches. Of them, Zimbabwe have been the victim four times.

13- Bangladesh are on a 13-match winning streak over Zimbabwe in ODIs. All of them have come at home. They won 5-0 in 2014 and 3-0 in 2015. Zimbabwe lost both matches to Bangladesh in a tri-series earlier this year. And lastly, the Tigers pulled off an easy 3-0 whitewash.

220- Imrul and Soumya’s stand is the second-highest partnership by runs for Bangladesh in ODIs. This is the highest for the second-wicket partnership breaking Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal’s 207 against Windies in Providence this year.

349- Imrul’s tally of runs in this series. This is not only the highest by a Bangladeshi but also the second-highest in a three-match ODI series. Pakistan’s Babar Azam made 360 runs against Windies in 2016. Tamim had made 312 against Pakistan in 2015 and 287 against Windies this year.

2- Imrul is the second Bangladeshi to hit two centuries in a three-match ODI series. Tamim did it twice before him. Imrul scored 144, 90 and 115 in this series.

3- This is the first time three hundred have been scored in a Bangladesh-Zimbabwe ODI. Sean Williams scored 129* off 143 when Zimbabwe were batting. In reply, Soumya thumped with 92-ball 117 and Imrul 115 from 112 balls.

287- The fifth-highest successful run-chase by Bangladesh in ODIs. This is also the highest at ZACS breaking 247 which was chased by Bangladesh in the second ODI.
