Steyn recalled for ODIs against Zimbabwe

South African fast bowler Dale Steyn makes a come back into the ODI squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe which will begin at the end of September.

Zimbabwe will tour to South Africa later this month for three ODI games and three T20I games. The tour will start with the first game of ODI series in Kimberly on September 30th.

On 14th September Cricket South Africa has announced squads for both ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe. Importantly fast bowler Dale Steyn makes a re-entry in to the 16 man squad for the ODI series. The fast bowler was seen in colour clothes for more than two years ago.

At the same time leggie Imran Tahir is also named in the squad after being rested for Sri Lankan tour. The squads for the two limited-overs series also features Warriors batsman Christiaan Jonker, who has been handed his maiden national call-up in ODIs.

Teenage batsman Matthew Breetzke, who represented the country at the U19 World Cup earlier this year and SA Emerging tour of Sri Lanka, will join the squad as a learning experience. Quinton de Kock and David Miller has been rested as the board wants to give some chance to others ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

 

The three-match ODI series begins in Kimberley on September 30, and will be followed by three T20Is, starting October 9 in East London.
