The hosts England face yet another setback as after James Anderson and Mark Wood, they also lost Olly Stone due to injury. He has suffered an injury to his left lower back in training on Tuesday in Edgbaston and it will take two weeks to recover.

Stones made his Test debut against Ireland last month. He was earlier been released from the Ashes squad to feature in the T20 Blast, but has now been sidelined. This comes just a day after James Anderson was ruled out of the second Test – at Lord’s from August 14.

Warwickshire’s Sport Director Paul Farbrac informed:

“At the moment there’s a bit of inflammation, but he will undergo a scan later this afternoon so that we know the full course of treatment that he can undertake with the club’s medical team and with the support of the ECB. In the meantime, he needs to rest up before he can get his body strong again and ready to deal with the demands of being a fast bowler.”

The second Test between England and Australia begins on 14 August at the home of cricket, The Lords.
