Sunny gets bail in dowry case

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain Tipu, the same court that indicted him, granted him bail on Sunday as the star cricketer appeared before it and sought bail.

To be noted, this is an ad-interim bail which will be effective until next hearing of the case on November 6.

Earlier on January 20 of this year, a woman claiming to be his wife, had filed the case against Sunny. According the case statement, she had said Sunny demanded Taka 20 lakh from her as dowry after their marriage.

The court had indicted Sunny on Sunday in the aforementioned dowry case, after cancelling his bail and issuing a fresh arrest warrant.

The 30-year-old cricketer has played 26 One Day Internationals and 16 T20 Internationals for Bangladesh national side.

He whad been the part of the Bangladesh team that played the ICC World T20 2016 in India last year, but later was banned from bowling in international cricket for bowling action found not to be legal by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Since then, he has been out of the national team.
