Sunzamul becomes Bangladesh’s 87th Test cricketer

Bangladesh cricket team is currently engaged in a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The opening match of the series has been started today at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. All of a sudden before the series started Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan got himself injured during the final match of the recently concluded tri-nation series.

So the team management had to make change in the team. Left handed off spinner Sunzamul Islam has taken the place of Shakib Al Hasan in the ongoing Test match. With this he becomes the 87th cricketer for Bangladesh to play Test cricket.

The 28-year old Sunzamul has a notable record with the ball in domestic cricket. Thus far he has played 60 first class matches where he has picked up 224 wickets. His performance with the bat is also not bad as he has over 1500 runs with five fifties and a century.

Earlier in March last year, all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain made his Test debut as 86th Bangladeshi cricketer and the opponent was the team. Bangladesh thrashed Sri Lanka in that game to make their historical 100th Test match memorable. Since then no new player got the opportunity to wear the white jersey for Tigers
