Harbhajan Singh had once told that Suryakumar is India’s AB de Villiers. Despite giving all his efforts in domestic and in IPL, he was still not picked by the national selectors. However, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly urged him to be patient while also adding that ‘time will surely come for him’.

Having played 16 matches for Mumbai Indians in the last season, he scored 480 runs at an average of 40. He hit four fifties so far and registered his best score of 79* against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. The star batsman also maintained a good strike-rate of 145 throughout the season.
