However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad, two of the team’s star cricketers, have yet to play in the IPL. Although they’re well established in T20 format, they could not catch the eye of any team in the IPL auction.

Tamim Iqbal, the left-arm opener of the Bangladesh team, thinks that Mahmudullah deserves to be called up for the IPL. It is unfortunate that he hasn’t got a chance in this tournament yet. Tamim said this on Instagram live with Mahmudullah on Sunday (May 3).

“I think you (Mahmudullah) deserve to be called up for the IPL,” he said.

“I always feel it. Especially the way you’ve been batting in T20 cricket for the last 3-4 years … I think it’s unfortunate that you haven’t been called up for the IPL yet.”

Meanwhile, Mahmudullah is not disappointed as he did not get a chance in the IPL. Despite wanting to play in such a big tournament as the IPL, he still doesn’t see anything to be upset about.

In response to Tamim, he said, “Everyone wants to play in a tournament like IPL. This is how this tournament is. Great, glamorous. The best T20 league in the world. It would have been nice to play. Everyone wants to see themselves in the best tournament. Because of this, there is no benefit in being upset. Hopefully, there will be opportunities in the future.”

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Mohammad Ashraful, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman have so far been called up for the IPL from Bangladesh. However, none other than Shakib Al Hasan could play regularly in this tournament.
