Tamim, Mashrafe urge fans to integrate among themselves
As a combined team there is a whole fan community as well as separate fan base of individual cricketers. Fans of individual cricketers often tries to imply supremacy over one player to another. But Bangladesh Former ODI skipper and current ODI skipper has urged to stop playing such differentiation and supremacy proneness in a live session.
After COVID-19 pandemic hit back on the cricket yard, it has been too long cricketers are away from cricket. In times of no cricket, considering the demands of fans current ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal was hosting live along with country fellow teammate and fellow playmate from other countries including players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Kane Williamson and Faf Du Plessis.
In the last live session Tamim invited the famous five pillars of Bangladesh cricket. Although Shakib Al Hasan could not join unfortunately but Tamim, Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, Mashrafe joined the session and their live session reached many. During live session they spotted the fact of madness from fan base of different players which sometimes led them to attack many players personally. In the live session, they joined the fan base to unite themselves and stop differentiation.
“You must know there are groups of their favorite players like Tamimian, Mushfiqian, Mashrafian which is completely understandable. But in recent times, I felt that due to such groups they start to attack each other and I don’t know whether it is right or wrong. But I would like to request everyone to not attack each other.
“It is good to have such groups as we all play for Bangladesh and we all are friends, brothers and teammates. I would like to request them to also be like friends and brothers. It’s not right when Tamim’s supporters say bad things about Mushfiqur’s fans or Mashrafe’s supporters say bad things about Mushfiqur’s supporters. Please don’t do such things,” requested Tamim.
“I totally agree. Mainly it’s we who can damage ourselves and not the outsiders. Someone likes me and he says bad things about Mushfiqur or vice versa. But ultimately we play for you and for Bangladesh. Yes, if you guys want to criticize then do it against all of us. But if you pick an individual, suppose if Mushfiqur plays well then you target the other ten players then it’s not right. Every supporter has their favorite player but that doesn’t mean you will criticize others.
“It’s good to have a fan base but don’t try to disrespect others. I hope as cricket is a gentleman’s game and its supporters are also gentle as it has been all across the world. I am sure our supporters are always with us and if we can restrain from such things then we can make ourselves proud,” Mashrafe said.
