Thanks to such overwhelming records to his name, Tamim now can be the third best opener in the world. If the statistics of last two years are taken into account, there are only two batsmen in the ranks having better records than Tamim. Those two batsmen are New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and Australia’s David Warner.
In last two years, Tamim played 24 ODI innings, and with an average of 56.66, he scored 1190 runs. On the other hand, Martin Guptill scored 1650 runs at 56.89 in 34 innings. Aussies opener David Warner tops the list with 1899 runs at 65.48 in 31 innings.
Tamim is the highest run scorer for Bangladesh in ODIs and Tests at the international level, while he is in the second position in the shortest format of the game. Almost all the batting records for Bangladesh in international cricket is held by the Chittagong-born batsman.
