According to a source of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), it has been learnt that wife of Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal was victimized of an attempted hate crime in England on the night of July 10. Hence, Tamim Iqbal opted to cut short his stint with county side Essex Eagles.
To be noted, Tamim Iqbal was signed by Essex for 8 matches in the ongoing NatWest T20 Blast. After getting the Non Objection Certificate to play in the tournament from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the 28-year old left-hand batsman left Bangladesh for England on Sunday.
He participated in NatWest T20 Blast after long-awaited six years and made his Essex debut against Kent on Sunday.
Despite failing to shine in his first match, he was hopeful to do well in the impending matches. But, all of a sudden, his NatWest T20 Blast mission sees it’s tragic part.
