Tamim to miss New Zealand T20Is

Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal will not play in the three-match T20 series against New Zealand. Tamim himself confirmed the matter at the press conference on Thursday, March 18.

Tamim spoke about the matter to Bangladeshi media from New Zealand at a virtual press conference. He confirmed that he would not play in the three-match T20 series against New Zealand due to family reasons. However, he wished the team for the series.

“For some personal reason I will not be in the T20 series. But I have good wishes for the team. I hope they will do well,” Tamim said.

Responding to a question from reporters, Tamim further said, “I have talked about this with the head coach before coming to the press conference. I will not play for personal reasons.”

Bangladesh are currently in New Zealand for three-match ODI series and T20I series. The series is scheduled to start from March 20 with the ODIs. Tamim will lead the team for the first time on foreign soil in limited-overs cricket.
