Tamim wants DPL to start for sake of cricketers
Coronavirus outcome have stopped living. All kinds of sports in the world are closed. At first, the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) was postponed up to April 15. But as the degradation of the situation, the league has been postponed for uncertain time some days ago until the situation gets normal.
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal hopes that domestic league will start again before the international cricket returns in regular rhythm. He also explains the reason. Tamim wants DPL to start very soon, as most of the cricketers lives on this league.
Recently in a live video chat on the Facebook page of The Daily Star, Tamim says, “The most important thing is that we need to have the domestic cricket to start. Because I personally think there should be a domestic cricket before every international match.
“This domestic cricket is very important, especially in Bangladesh. About 70-80 percent of our cricketers earn their living through the Premier League. This Premier League is very important for our players economically as well as for cricket.”
It is unclear whether DPL will be held again this year. However, the interests of many cricketers have been lied in this tournament as this is the main earning source of many cricketers around the country. As the league has postponed, many cricketers have faced financial imbalance and for the sake of these cricketers Tamim has urged to start the premier League as soon as possible.
