Tamim wishes to stay above Shakib in run scoring

If two performers are taken account of as backbone of Bangladesh cricket these cricket, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal would be casted. In most of the occasions, the foundation laid by Tamim Iqbal in the opening, carried away by Shakib Al Hasan in the middle, took the Tigers to seal memorable victories in and outside home. Tamim plays through the square

It has been not long ago, Tamim and Shakib touched the 11 and 10 thousand international run mark for Bangladesh across formats.

Upgrading his position in the one down instead of previous fifth spot, Shakib Al Hasan would have close opportunities to touch down or even exceed Tamim Iqbal in run scoring.

Pleasure it is for Bangladesh cricket that Tamim is considering the competitiveness as a challenge and wishes to be listed above Shakib in this ground.

Tamim said, “It would be good to have a compact competition; I think having a healthy competition in the midst of a team is always great. In case I want to overpass someone and he too wants to do that.

“From now on, Shakib could bat more overs as he is positioned at number three. So I have also to keep in mind that I have to score more if I want to be above from him. And this is not only Shakib, Mushfiqur is also there; he scored a lot of runs in 2017.

Wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim played 300 matches for Bangladesh across formats and so far scored 8909 runs. While Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan performed in 284 and 294 matches respectively.

However, Tamim said he has not felt frustrated missing centuries in back to back matches of the tri-nation series.

The Bangladesh opener said, “Well, that was not unlucky actually. In the second match, I really started a bit slow in the beginning. But the most satisfying thing about the second match is that I did not throw my wicket.”

Tamim scored 84 runs in both matches of the tri-nation series, the one against Zimbabwe and the other against Sri Lanka.

The hosts eclipsed Zimbabwe with ease defeating by 8 wickets in the first match of the Rocket tri-nation series, 2018.

In the second match, the Tigers achieved the biggest marginal win in their one day history thrashing Sri Lanka by 163 runs.

Bangladesh will encounter Zimbabwe in the next match of the tri-nation series on 23rd of January and the last match before final will be against Sri Lanka two days after that.

The tri-nation series will come to an end on 27th of this month. Bangladesh will play a bilateral series against Sri Lanka afterwards.

The bilateral contest is comprised of two Test matches and two T20I matches. The first Test match will begin on 31st of January at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

The second Test is scheduled to take place from February 8 to February 12 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
