It was yet another low scoring encounter in the BCB President’s Cup as a team reached 200 for the first time in the tournament. However, it looked impossible at the beginning after Tamim XI lost 7 wickets for only 108 runs. Then came Mahedi Hasan and changed the scenario of the game.

With 9 fours and 3 sixes, Mahedi scored 82 off just 57 balls which guided his side to a fighting total of 221 runs. Earlier, skipper Tamim Iqbal made a good start but failed to continue as he departed for 33. Al-Amin Hossain was the most successful bowler for the side, picking 3 wickets for only 43 runs.

In reply, Shanto XI had a poor start as they lost their first three wickets for only 30 runs. After a small partnership between Mushfiqur Rahim and Afif Hossain, the wickets kept tumbling again.

Mushfiqur had to fight it hard all the way and fought the battle with a tremendous hundred. He scored the first hundred of the tournament in 102 balls. However, he could not manage to get the side over the line as Mustafizur Rahman picked up his wicket.

Apart from Mustafiqur, young Shoriful Islam also had a day to remember as he picked up four wickets and conceded only 37 runs.
