Tanvir nursing the dream of meeting Warne

He used to be mainly a middle-order batsman who would sometimes bowl leg-spin as well. But now batting no more defines the cricketer, as shrugging off the ‘part-timer’ label, Tanvir Haider is now a full-fledged leg-spinner.

Tanvir caught everyone’s eyes during BCB XI’s match against England a few months back when he returned with remarkable figures with a four-for. And now he is on verge of catching the flight of Australia, as he is one of the members of the 22-member Bangladesh preliminary squad for the New Zealand tour who will first hold a week-long practice camp in Australia.

To meet with Shane Warne is the life-long dream of any leg-spinner. Being one of that kind, Tanvir is also no exception, and he is looking forward to see the legendary Aussie spinner while he is down under.

“It will be like a dream come true if I could meet him. I may request the team management to give me a chance to see him face to face. This will help me a lot to get better as a bowler. I would try to borrow as much as I can from his learning and experiences,” said Tanvir.

Asked what would he ask to the legend provided he meets him, Tanvir said, “He could bowl in five or six different ways. I can ball only in four or five ways. So this will be one thing. Besides I need to put up with the match temperament. So I would like to know how he would deal with the match situations, make field set-ups, plan for his bowling etc.”
