Taskin, Miraz dent Sri Lanka’s dominance in second session
Another eventful session on the day two in the second Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy as wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella counters back after Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz take two wickets in quick succession.
Sri Lanka started the second session of the day very cautiously as Oshada Fernando and Pathum Nissanka spent the first hour of the session safely. But the in-form pacer Taskin again got the breakthrough as Nissanka was bowled by a great delivery scoring 30 runs.
In the next over, Oshada fell victim to Miraz after wicket-keeper Liton Das took a superb catch behind the stumps. Sri Lanka looked like in a danger for a moment but Dickwella and spin all-rounder Ramesh Mendis tackled the situation.
Dickwella started off aggressively and was unbeaten on 31 runs off 29 ball till tea break. While Mendis will resume at 12 runs after the interval.
Sri Lanka go into launch at 425/6 in 146 overs.
Bangladesh had been passing a good day two as they took 5 wickets already on the day. Earlier, two openers- Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne both picked-up hundreds.
Sri Lanka 425/6 in 146 overs (Thirimanne 140, Karunaratne 118, Oshada 81; Taskin 3/100, Shoriful 1/75, Taijul 1/78, Miraz 1/99)
