Team Success is more important- Mehedi Maruf


Batsman Mehedi Maruf has been a very consistent performer in domestic cricket of Bangladesh. He is in top two of the highest run getters in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) scoring 266 runs in eight matches at an average of 38. But still has remained out of the lime light. The opener was never able to do anything extra ordinary despite playing ten years in first class cricket. But he has emerged otherwise in Bangladesh Premier League this season. His bat is shining brightly Since the very first match of the tournament. The Dhaka Dynamites batsman have scored two fifties, including a unbeaten knock of 75 runs in one of them.
Biggest thing has been his consistency. The batsman who started playing in first class cricket since 2006 has shown he is not finished yet. He is in the top two of highest run scorers as proof. The Dynamite has also shown his ability to hit boundaries. In eight matches he have played so far, Maruf have scored 14 Sixes and 27 Fours.
His success in the tournament has attracted the selectors as well. They are thinking whether he should be included for the New Zealand tour or not. But the batsman have said he is not satisfied already at all.
The batsman said, ‘Individual performance is always pleasing. But the success of the team is more important to me. In this BPL I am thinking all about my team, how can I take them to a comfortable position.’
