Test cricket is the ultimate: Gayle
For many years now, the popularity of T20 cricket has been on the minds of Test fans which is considered the elite format of cricket. Many fear that the attraction of Test cricket may fade with the onslaught of Twenty20 cricket.
However, according to Chris Gayle, the peddler of T20 cricket, Test cricket is the best of all. Which also teaches people about life. Although he himself is an undisputed legend of the T20 format, Gayle has praised Test cricket.
“Test cricket is the ultimate,” Gayle said in an online chat with Indian cricket team opener Mayank Agarwal.
“Playing Test cricket also gives you a chance, how to live life because playing five days of cricket is very challenging. It tests you so many times, makes sure you are disciplined in everything you did.”
“It also teaches you how to rebound from of a tough situation,” he added.
Despite being the king of T20 cricket, Gayle’s Test career is quite rich. Since his debut in 2000, he has played 103 matches in white until 2014. Where he has scored 7214 runs with 15 centuries and 37 fifties.
“Test cricket allows you to test your skills and mental toughness. Just be dedicated, enjoy what you do. Even if it’s not within the sport, there’s always something in open out there for you,” Gayle said.
“So, if one thing doesn’t work, always remember there’s another opportunity for you. So please don’t be heartbroken if you are cricketer and don’t make within the cricketing arena,” he added.
