The 'GOAT' Lyon ruling Asia

Nathan Lyon is enjoying a wonderful time in Asia. He has picked up 7 wickets for 94 runs in the first innings against Bangladesh in Chittagong Test. Till now, he has scalped 16 wickets in the series.

Lyon picked up his 11th five-for on day one. It was his fourth fifer in ten innings in Asia in 2017, the most by any in this continent this year. Ravichandran Ashwin and Rangana Herath has three five-wicket hauls each.

The GOAT took the wickets of Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman on day one. He dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam in the second morning to complete his seven-for.

It’s his fourth seven-for in Tests, his third in Asia. No other visiting bowler has achieved three or more seven-fors in Asia. He took career-best 8/50 against India in Bengaluru this year. Four years ago, he took 7/94 against India in Delhi.

Lyon has now 77 wickets in Asia. He stands next to Shane Warne’s tally of 127 wickets, the most by an Australian in this region.
