Thilan Samaraweera appointed batting consultant for New Zealand

Former Sri Lankan batsman Thilan Samaraweera will be a batting consultant for the visiting New Zealand team. This was revealed by their Head coach Gary Stead.

Speaking over telephone from New Zealand, the coach said, “Peter Fulton (23, Tests, 49 ODIs and 12 T20Is) will be batting coach, however, Samaraweera will assist the team”.

“Samaraweera’s services have been hired for only two Test matches”, Stead further added.

New Zealand is scheduled to play two Tests, and three Night T20I matches on this tour.

No services of any other Sri Lankan player has been sought by the New Zealand Cricket  board.

Samaraweera has worked with the Sri Lankan and Bangladesh teams in the past and returned to Australia a month ago.
