Things would have been better if we had better foreign inclusions: Mushfiqur
Mushfiqur Rahim, who led Chittagong Vikings in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) believes his side a good tournament despite failing to qualify for the final.
Chittagong Vikings had an amazing outing in this year’s BPL. A team, which was not looking strong on paper was at the top of the points table before Rangpur Riders took away the spot.
Mushfiqur’s men also produced some thrilling finishes in this tournament with South African all-rounder Robbie Frylinck winning three matches for them.
But it all ended after they lost to Dhaka Dynamites in the Eliminator. And skipper Mushfiqur expressed his disappointment for not being able to play a match-winning knock.
“I wanted to play a match-winning knock today but it didn’t happen. I feel that I am slightly happier than previous tournaments. I have got out of some tough situations, and believed in myself a little more.”
Mushfiqur also believes things would have been little different if his side had better foreign players after the first five matches.
“We had the belief to finish in the top four. There was little pressure on us. We didn’t have the team on paper but we wanted to show that despite being a low-budget side, we can set an example with a good result. I think if we had better foreign inclusions after winning five games, things could have been different. If we leave out today, I think we had a good tournament.”
