Tigers on brink of massive defeat

Windies are all set to pull of a big innings victory over Bangladesh on the third day of the first Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. Bangladesh have already lost six wickets in their second innings.

WIndies were all out for 406 runs in 137.3 overs with a mammoth lead of 363 runs. Kraigg Brathwaite top-scored the innings with 121 runs, his second ton against Bangladesh. Shai Hope returned to runs with 67 off 127 balls. Jason Holder and Kemar Roach’s 33 each extended the lead.

Bangladesh came in to bat in the last session of day two. Tamim Iqbal brought up his 4000th run, the first Bangladeshi to do so. However, Shannon Gabriel dismissed him just after the landmark. Mominul Haque fell for a duck while Liton Das, skipper Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim – all failed.

With six wickets down for 62 in 18 overs, it is likely the match to be finished off by the Windies. Bangladesh are still trailing by 301 runs.

Gabriel, who was wicketless during Bangladesh’s 43, has now bagged 4 for 36. Holder is also amongst the wickets with two scalps.
