Like everyone else, Bangladeshi cricketers have also expressed their disappointment at the retirement of Messi, and termed it as a shocking news.

Al-Amin Hossain, the pace sensation of current Bangladesh set-up, said he couldn’t believe his ears after getting the news. “I have heard of it. But I still can’t believe it, and I am not sure whether or not it’s true.

“Perhaps what he (Messi) spoke to the media came in the heat of the moment. But whatever may be the case, it will be really disappointing if Messi doesn’t play anymore for Argentina.

“I always wanted him to win at least one World Cup for Argentina. But now, Argentina will never be the same again after the retirement of Messi,” said the pacer who took 25 wickets in 16 matches in the recently concluded DPL.

Another Bangladeshi cricketer Mehedi Hasan Miraz, the man who captained Bangladesh Under-19 team in last two Under-19 World Cups, was also very astonished at the sudden news of Messi’s calling time on international career.

“Shocking… It’s really very shocking,” said the youngster. “Messi is probably the greatest player ever to have played the game. His retirement at so early age is just shocking. It’s also a great loss, not only for Argentina alone, but for the millions of football fans all over the world.”

In the mean time, country’s fastest bowler and the World Cup hero Rubel Hossain wrote on his official Facebook page: “Despite being a die-hard Brazil fan, I am saying Argentina fans were desperately looking for a win today from Messi. But the little magician returned them another defeat on this day of defeat by announcing retirement. I think it’s a wrong decision.”
