Bangladesh cricketers will sport black armbands against India in memory of victims of horrific passenger airplane crash in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Bangladesh and India will lock horns in the fourth T20I of the Nidahas Trophy tri-series at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo at 7:30 pm (BDT) Wednesday. The Tigers are currently placed third after a win in a 215 run chase against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah Riyad confirmed about this ahead of their next game.
On Monday, a US Bangla Airlines flight BS-211 took off from Dhaka en route to Kathmandu. The aircraft crashed on a football groud near the Tribhuvan International Airport. The flight carried 67 passengers and 4 crews.
32 were Bangladeshi, 33 Nepalis, one Chinese and one Maldivian were on board. Reports say at least 50 died including captain Abid Sultan and co-pilot Prithula Rashid.
Yesterday’s incident was the deadliest accident by a Bangladeshi aircraft in last 33 years.
Cricketers mourned for the victims on social media after the accident took place.
