Tom Abell, Lewis Gregory signed to Rangpur Rangers in BPL 2019-20

Rangpur Rangers have signed two of the Somerset County Cricket Club cricketer Tom Abell and Lewis Gregory for the forthcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League scheduled to underway later this week.

Tom Abell is excited to have the opportunity. He said, “I found out a week ago that the Rangpur Rangers were interested in me. Obviously, it’s a great opportunity for me and it’s the first time that I’ve been involved in anything like this. It’ll be a slightly different Christmas for me but it’s an amazing opportunity.”

Tom made his First Class debut for Somerset in 2014 and his List A debut the following year. He registered his first T20 hundred against Middlesex this summer.

On other end, Somerset’s Vitality Blast Captain Lewis Gregory who recently played in Abu Dhabi T10 league has also roped in for Rangpur Rangers this season.

“It’s great experience because you’re playing against some of the world’s best players,” Lewis said.

“To be able to talk to them and play with them is only going to help you learn as a cricketer and help you improve. Hopefully I can bring some ideas back to help us in our white-ball campaigns.

“To be around some of the worlds best cricketers is great and you can’t help but learn from them.”

“It will be nice that we’re going to be playing in the same team. It should be good fun and it’s always nice to have some familiar faces around the place when you’re away for a long time,” Lewis said.
