Tom Moody picks his IPL team of the year
As the scintillating Indian Premier League came to a close, Australian coach Tom Moody has come up with his best IPL XI. Though some good players were missing from the playing XI, Moody’s best IPL XI still looks good. Earlier, he predicted that Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab would qualify for the playoffs.

Just as he predicted, three of the teams made it to the playoffs. He was pretty sure that Chennai Super Kings wouldn’t qualify and for the first time in IPL history, they failed to make the cut in the playoffs. Moody was spot on with this prediction.

Talking about his best IPL XI, Australian coach picked Shikhar Dhawan and KL as the best IPL openers so far. Without any doubt, Dhawan and KL Rahul performed better than others. KL Rahul won the orange cap as he ended up as this league’s top run-scorer with 670 runs to his name. Dhawan ended up as the second run-scorer in the league with 603 runs.

Surya has been one of the top performers for Mumbai Indians this season. He played superb shots all around the park. Though he played really well in domestic cricket and in the IPL, he is yet to receive his maiden call-up for Team India.
Rashid Khan was the only spinner who was featured in best IPL XI. He was quite impressive for Sunrisers Hyderabad. As far as the pace bowling department is concerned, Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah and Kagiso Rabada made the cut in Moody’s best IPL XI.
All these pacers have been terrific so far in the league. Rabada, in particular, was well and truly exceptional as he won the purple cap for taking most wickets (29) this season. Rahul Tewatia and Ishan Kishan also earned their place in the best XI.
AB de Villiers carried the RCB unit on his shoulders in crucial junctures of the game. He is a mandatory T20 material and would be featured in best T20 XI and it was no surprise seeing his name in Moody’s IPL XI.
