One of the all time great batsmen on earth Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is going to play the last test match of his long successful career tomorrow (Thursday) as India will face West Indies in Mumbai in the last match of the series. The 200th test match will be the little master’s last match as he declared his retirement earlier in this year.
An eternal source of inspiration for all the cricket followers of the world, Sachin has been playing in India’s national team for 24 years. Now greats of past and present throughout the world including well known people outside the sports arena also have expressed their passions before the farewell ceremony of his career. In the early phase of Bangladesh cricket, great representatives of Bangladesh team like Minhajul Abedin, Akram Khan also faced Tendulkar in the field. Here are some of their expressions about the batting genius of India.
It was great to play against him: Minhajul Abedin
Sachin played against Bangladesh for the first time in 1990’s Asia Cup, one year after his ODI debut. Minhajul Abedin Nannu led Bangladesh team at that match. Nannu said ‘Everyone has to go but it is sad to think that the cricket world is going to lose someone like him. It was a memorable event for me to watch his performance closely in Coca-Cola cup in 1998.’
Nannu also said, ‘He is going to play his 200th test; it’s a blessing from Almighty. We look forward to see who will break his records in future though none of his records are easy to break.’ The former skipper of Bangladesh suggested cricketers of Bangladesh to take Sachin as an idol. Nannu exclaimed ‘He played in a so disciplined way!’
Cricket lovers will feel him: Akram Khan
Another former captain of Bangladesh, presently the director of board Akram Khan played against Sachin Tendulkar in 1997 Asia Cup held in Colombo where Sachin was also the skipper of his side.
Akram said, “I feel myself lucky enough to play with him. Cricket lovers of the world will be going to miss someone so great to see.”
The historical ICC Champion’s Trophy winner captain Akram Khan wished for Sachin saying, “I’m wishing a very successful life after cricket of Sachin Tendulkar as he has been so successful in his cricket career.” Akram told that he don’t think it will be possible for anyone to break Sachin’s records.
Sachin the great: Khaled Mahmud
Khaled Mahmud Sujon said there’s no doubt about Sachin’s greatness. Sujon said, “Sachin is a great man both in and out of the field.” He made his remembrance of taking Sachin’s wicket once in Bangabandu stadium saying it was a memorable moment.
Mahmud informed that when he was a coaching staff of Bangladesh team he invited Sachin in Bangladesh dressing room and the great man gave lots of nice advice to the players.
Khaled Mahmud remarked Sachin as an inspiring man for all the cricket players throughout the country. He said everyone will remember him.
A modest man: Habibul Bashar
The successful middle order batsman of Bangladesh Habibul Bashar pointed to the greatness of Sachin as a human being rather than a cricketer. Basher said that Sachin is an ultimate modest man despite of his sky high success.
The current selector of the board Bashar said, “I don’t know whether the world will find another cricketer like him or not. He has a great mind.”
Sachin is his own comparison: Gazi Ashraf Lipu
Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu has always surprised to watch the mental strength of the little master. Lipu said, “He is the master of cricket. He possesses that mental strength of surviving for such a long career against all odds.”
Gazi Ashraf said ‘Sachin is going to end his such a long career without any scandals. He has that high self – esteem. He is the ultimate source of inspiration for all cricketers.’
