Turner added as Mitchell Marsh’s cover up for India ODIs
Ashton Turner has been called up as a cover up for Mitchell Marsh for the ODI series against India that will start on January 12th.
Indian team is currently having a good outing in Australian summer with their first ever Test series win in Australian soil and a drawn T20I series. After two successful series, India will take on Australia on January 12th in the series opener of the three-match ODI series.
Ahead of the series opener, Australia have experienced a blow in the form of Mithcell Marsh. Marsh has been recovering from gastritis at the hospital for the past couple of days and will not play the first ODI, coach Justin Langer confirmed.
Ashton Turner, a handy middle-order batsman, and occasional off-spinner has been called up as a cover up for Mitchell Marsh in the ODI series.
“He can finish the innings off well, an elite athlete in the field and he’s also a captain,” Langer said. “You see the way he finishes off an innings that he’s a good thinker of the game like most of the great finishes and a really good leader, good person around the group. Very excited to see him come in.”
